Donald Lee Daly, 86 of Norfolk, passed away on July 12, 2023. Donald was born 
November 17, 1936, to the late George and Annie Daly.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Marie, 
and brother, George Jr.
Donald is survived by his wife, Margaret, his 2 stepsons, David and Michael, and 
2 grandchildren, Courtney and Alex, his sister-in-law, Shirley, and many nieces, 
nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
After a tour in the US Army, Don retired from AT&T and Sentara. He was known by 
many people as “The phone man.” He met Margaret while installing a Merlin system 
at her work 40+ years ago. He liked golf and having lunch with the men’s group 
from church. He also volunteered at the church, working as part of the grounds 
crew and along with his wife in the food pantry. His contributions will be 
missed.
A memorial service will be held at Church of the Ascension (405 Talbot Hall Rd, 
Norfolk, VA 23505) on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Norfolk SPCA and the Alzheimer’s 
Association.
