The Virginian-Pilot, Monday, March 26, 1990

NORFOLK - Lula Jane Darden of the 800 block of Goff St., a retired domestic 
worker, died March 22, 1990, in a hospital.

Mrs. Darden, a native of Elizabeth City, was the widow of Samuel Darden. She was 
a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Walker of Norfolk; a son, James Rogers of 
Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-
grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark United Church of 
Christ. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may join the family at 400 
W. 27th St. Hale Funeral Home in handling arrangements.
