Virginian Pilot October 1, 1910

Mrs. Mary E. Darnell, a resident of the ward for many years and a native of 
Portsmouth, died at her home No. 3 North Main street yesterday morning at 9:05 
o'clock in the 65th year of her age.  She has resided in Berkley more than 
thirty years and was well known.
She is survived by the following sons and daughters:  Mrs. W.K. Derby, Raleigh, 
N.C.; W.W. Darnell, Lamberts Point; Benjamin F. Darnell, George W. Darnell, Mrs. 
Harry Paul and Mrs. C.H. Cox, the latter four of Berkley ward.
The funeral will be conducted from the residence Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, 
with Dr. W.W. Lear, pastor of Memorial M.E. Church, officiating and the 
interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
