 R.G. Dashiell, 78, Associate In Oil Firm 

Robert Gatewood Dashiell, 78, of 1024 Graydon Ave., an oil company 
associate, died in a hospital Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. after a brief illness.
He was the father of Robert G. Dashiell Jr., assistant production manager of 
The Virginian-Pilot and Ledger-Star.
A native of Berkley, he was the husband of Mrs. Marguerite Miller Dashiell 
and a son of George B. and Mrs. Ella Graves Dashiell.
For 35 years he was associated with White & Dashiell Oil Co.  Previously he 
was with George V. Dashiell & Son, a sporting goods firm, in Norfolk.
He was a World War I veteran.
Besides his widow and son, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Daniel L. Kiley of 
Roanoke, and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments by the Rev. Roger C. Snyder of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and 
the Rev. Thomas Cassidy of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Burial will be in 
Magnolia Cemetery.
