David Armistead Dashiell, 79, Ex-Norfolk Official

NORFOLK - David Armistead Dashiell, 79, retired traffic manager of Royster 
Guano Co., civic leader and churchman, died Friday at 8:30 a.m. in his home.
A lifelong resident, he was a son of George V. and Mrs. Ella Armistead 
Graves Dashiell.  He spent 45 years with the Royster firm and was a former 
vestryman of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
He was past chairman of the Norfolk School Board, a former member of the Old 
Board of Alderman (Council), and a member of the Norfolk-Portsmouth Traffic 
Club.
FAMILY SURVIVES
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen Berkley Dashiell; a daughter, Mrs. 
Nathaniel Beaman of Norfolk; two sons, David Armistead Dashiell Jr. of 
Norfolk and Dr. Waverly B. Dashiell of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Paul 
Hough of Yorktown; two brothers, Harry W. Dashiell and Robert Gatewood 
Dashiell of Norfolk; and eight grandchildren.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. 
Andrew's Episcopal Church for a funeral service Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by the 
Rev. Beverley Tucker White.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.  The 
family has asked that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the 
Cot Fund of St. Andrew's Church.
