Virginian Pilot July 15, 1904

Mrs. Ella Dashiell, wife of G.V. Dashiell, died at her home, corner 
Middleton and Mulberry streets, yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after a 
lingering illness of about a year, aged 49 years.
The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Graves, and was born in 
Norfolk and came to this place when she was two years old, where she has 
since resided.  She was of one of the first families of Berkley and enjoyed 
the love, admiration and high esteem of a host of friends, who will be 
pained to learn of her death.  She was a life long member of St. Paul's 
Episcopal Church, for the good of which she had given much of her time and 
talents in the various capacities in which a woman of her amiable 
disposition might be found doing.  Notwithstanding her declining health, of 
about a year's duration, her death was sudden and not at all expected, her 
serious illness only dating from last Friday.
She is survived by a grief-stricken husband and seven sons and daughters, a 
sister and six brothers, as follows:  Mrs. H.R Foster, of New York; Mrs. 
J.E. White, Norfolk; Miss M.G .Dashiell, Berkley; Messrs. G.F., D.A., H.W. 
and R.G. Dashiell, Miss Daisy Graves and Messrs. Ernest, David, Harry, J.P., 
William A. and E.N. Graves.
The funeral will take place Saturday, the time and place to be announced 
later.  Rev. Robert Gatewood, rector of St. Paul's Church, will officiate 
and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
