Dashiell, the venerable mother of Messrs. George V. and J.F. Dashiell, died yesterday at the residence of her son, corner of Middleton and Mulberry Streets, in the 74th year of her age, The funeral announcement later. ******************************************************************************* Death of Mrs. Virginia A. Dashiell This venerable lady passed quietly away at the residence of her son, Mr. Geo. V. Dashiell, No. 23 Middleton Street, Berkley, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after an illness that confined her to her bed and room for only four days. The deceased was in the 74th year of her age and was the widow of the late F.S. Dashiell, who preceded her to the grave about nine years ago. She was the daughter of the late John M. Webb, of Norfolk, and niece of the late Commodore Thomas Tarlton Webb, of the United States Navy. Mrs. Dashiell was a devout Christian, being a member of Cumberland Street Methodist Church, Norfolk, from her early childhood. Two sons and two daughters, Mr. Geo. V. and Mr. John F. Dashiell, Mrs. J.W. Thomas and Miss Maggie V. Dashiell, survive her. She was a sister-in-law of Mr. T.J. Dashiell and Mrs. Harriet Godfrey, of this city. The funeral will take place from the house tomorrow afternoon at 5 o'clock. The Portsmouth Star March 30, 1898 *************************************************************************** The funeral services of Mrs. Virginia Dashiell were conducted from her late residence, on Middleton Street, Berkley, yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock, the ceremonies being performed by the Rev. Dr. Johnson, pastor of Cumberland Street M.E. Church, Norfolk, of which she was a member, assisted by the Rev. Robert Gatewood, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Berkley, after which the remains were conveyed to their last resting place in Magnolia Cemetery. The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Judge George D. Parker, Capt. C.F. Hudgins, Messrs. L. Hyslop, Sr., Isaac H. Diggs, J.A. Morgan and C.J. Colonna.
