D'AURIA Norfolk - Domenica "Mae" Randazzo D'Auria, 94, passed away on November 3, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Randazzo. When Mae was 16 years old, a young man from Italy named Mario rode by on his moped as she was cleaning the steps outside her family home. He was immediately smitten and rode by every day to see her. They married in 1941 and celebrated 70 years together as husband and wife. Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook and spent many hours making Italian specialties for family and friends. You could never leave her house without a bag of goodies to take home. She was a city girl who loved country music. While Mae never held a job outside the home or drove a car, she was a strong woman who was the center of her family. Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mario D'Auria; three brothers, Vincent, Joseph, and John Randazzo; and three sisters, Rosie Alfonso, Frances Cordua, and Anna Garretson. Left to cherish her memory are her loving family: brother, Angelo Randazzo; children, Carmen Angelo D'Auria, and wife, Dianne, Roseann Chance, and husband, Jim, Mario D'Auria, Jr., and wife, Tracye, and Angela Stanton, and husband, Wil; five grandchildren, Michael D'Auria, Tammy D'Auria, Michele Wood, and husband, Mark, Lauren D'Auria and Jenna D'Auria; six great-grandchildren, Londen, Shannah Mae, Morgan, Johnny, Mason and Ethan; and five step-grandchildren, Jimmy, Bobby, Sheila, Tom and Clint. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
