Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, May 30, 1990 
George E. Davenport, of the 900 block of Galt St., died May 28, 1990, in a
hospital.

Mr. Davenport, a native of Elizabeth City, had retired as a supervisor from the
Norfolk Naval Base after 37 years. He was the widower of Hallie P. Davenport and
a member of Queen Street Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Essie L. Moore of Elmont, N.Y.; a son, Richard E.
Davenport of Miami; two sisters, Helen Small of Norfolk and Sarah Lovitt of
Elizabeth City; a brother, James W. Davenport of Elizabeth City; three
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Queen Street Baptist Church
by the Rev. Lloyd R. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends may
join the family at the residence. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30
a.m. Thursday. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
