NORFOLK - Hallie Peele Davenport of the 900 block of Galt St., a retired school
clerk, died August 16, 1986, in a hospital.

Mrs. Davenport, an Ahoskie, N.C., native, had retired from Norfolk Public Schools
after 23 years. She was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, George E. Davenport; a stepdaughter, Essie Moore of
New York City; a stepson, Richard E. Davenport of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Lala Taylor
of New York City; a brother, Bennie L. Peele Sr. of Norfolk; and three
grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Queen Street Baptist Church by
the Rev. J. Jasper Freeman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be
placed in the church at 11 a.m. by the Hale Funeral Home. The family will be at the
residence.
