Virginian Pilot April 12, 1979

NEW YORK - Mrs. Floretta D. Davenport of 28 McConds Place, the widow of David 
Davenport and a native of Norfolk, died Sunday in Harlem Hospital.
She lived in New York 15 years. She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church 
and its Land Circle of New York and Phyllis Wheatley Circle of Norfolk. 
Survivors include five foster daughters, Misses Linda Davenport, Debra McClain, 
Sharon Grice, Millie Davenport and Dianne Cellrey of New York; two sisters, Mrs. 
Ruth Manning and Mrs. Sarah Boone of Norfolk; and three grandchildren.
The body is being sent from Elizabeth M. Smith Funeral Service to Elton Funeral 
Home, Norfolk, where a funeral will be held in the chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. by 
the Rev. David Sanford. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. The family 
will be at the home of a sister, Mrs. Manning, of 860 Fremont St. in Norfolk.
