Norfolk - A funeral service was held recently at Bank Street Baptist Church for
Harold S. Davenport Sr. of 929 Anna street, who died at home recently after a
long illness. The Rev. J. B. Henderson, pastor, officiated.

Mr. Davenport was the husband of Mrs. Aliene Jordan Davenport and a son of the
late George W. and Mrs. Margaret Keeling Davenport.

He was a retired letter carrier with 48 years of service.

Mr. Davenport was a former church clerk of Bank Street Baptist Church and
chairman of the finance committee. He was a graduate of Norfolk Mission College
and a member of the Hiawatha Beneficial and Social Association and the Assembly
Club.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Dr. Harold S. Davenport Jr.
of Brooklyn; a daughter, Mrs. Edith D. Coltron of Norfolk, and three grandchildren.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with B. F. King Funeral Home in charge.
