Funeral services for Charles Cephus Davidson, 35, who died at a Norfolk Hospital
on August 22 at 3:45 a.m. were held at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Riddick’s
Funeral Service. The Rev. Dr. J. R. Johnson Sr., pastor of St. John AME Church,
officiated. He was assisted by Dr. W. L. Hamilton, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church.

A native of Norfolk, Mr. Davidson was the son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Lula
Davidson. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk, and
attended City College of New York for two years. He was a member of St. John AME
Church.

Mr. Davidson was an employee of the City of Norfolk for three years, having been
employed before that for 17 years by the Norfolk News Agency. He was stricken
Saturday.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marietta Davidson, organist for St. John AME
Church; three children, Charles Hamilton, William Ronald and Thomas Davidson;
four sisters, Mrs. Sallie Custis, New York City; Miss Virginia Davidson and Mrs.
Willie Mae Wiley, Norfolk, and Mrs. Hattie Lee Daniels, New York; one brother,
Oren Davidson, Norfolk, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick’s Funeral Service in charge in
funeral arrangements.
