Davis, 217 Bute street, who died at a Norfolk hospital March 20, were held Wednesday afternoon, March 24, in Riddick's Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Richard B. Martin, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, officiated. A native of Raleigh, NC, Mr. Davis had resided in Norfolk 49 years. He was the son of the late Jonah and Mrs. Lucy Davis. Among out of town persons attending the funeral were Miss Helen Davis, assistant principal of the Washington High School, Raleigh, NC, a sister of the deceased; Howard Davis and Jonah Davis, nephews, of New York City; Mrs. Jennie White, a niece of Baltimore MD, and Mrs. Mary Hamilton, another niece of Raleigh, NC. The survivors are two brothers, Willard Davis, Veterans Hospital, Roanoke VA, and James Davis, Veterans Hospital, Vineland, NJ; two sisters, Miss Helen Davis, Raleigh, and Mrs. Katie Murratt, Chicago; two nieces, Mrs. Jennie White, Baltimore MD, and Mrs. Mary Hamilton, Raleigh NC; four nephews, Charles Davis, Norfolk; Howard Davis and Jonah Davis, New York, and Lewis Davis, Raleigh NC, and other relatives. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick's Funeral Home in charge.
