The Virginian Pilot Friday November 3, 1967
VIRGINIA BEACH - Walter Alexander Davis, 74, the husband of Mrs. Gertie 
Ewell Davis and son of William T. and Mrs. Emma Jane Davis, died in a 
Norfolk hospital Thursday at 12:30 a.m.
A native of Hertford, N.C., he lived in the Virginia Beach area most of his 
life, lately at Back Bay. He was a member of Fairview Church of Christ. He 
was a retired custodian of Chesterfield Heights Elementary School.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edith Carlson of 
Norfolk and Mrs. Emma Graham of Virginia Beach; a son, Henry Alexander Davis 
of Back Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Goodwin of Hampton and Mrs. Mary E. 
Hollowell of Chesapeake; two brothers, John E. Davis and T.T. Davis of 
Chesapeake; and two grandchildren.
The body will be taken from Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk, to 
Fairview Church of Christ for a funeral service Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will 
be in Magnolia Cemetery. The body will be in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The family will be at the home of a niece, Mrs. Susie Barnette of 1321 Elder 
Ave., Norfolk Highlands, Chesapeake.
