Norfolk Virginian September 18, 1881
We regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Carrie E. Davis, wife of William B. Davis, 
Esq., and daughter of Mr. J. P. Withy of Norfolk. She resided a long time in 
Portsmouth, where she made very many friends as the organist of the Second Street 
M. E. Church. At the time of her death, which took place Friday night, she was in 
her 27th year and was staying at the residence of her parents. The funeral will 
take place from the Second Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, this afternoon at 4 
o’clock.
