Norfolk Landmark August 6, 1889
Death of a Former Resident.
Intelligence reached the city yesterday of the death in Philadelphia Saturday of 
Mrs. Hattie Davis, wife of Mr. Richard V. Davis, of that city, daughter of the 
late Alex. Davis, and granddaughter of Mr. Miles Davis, of this city, in the 31st 
year of her age. The deceased was well-known here as an aimable and Christian 
lady, where she had a large circle of friends. Her remains will arrive by the New 
York, Philadelphia and Norfolk railroad this morning and will be conveyed to the 
First (Cumberland street) Baptist Church, where the funeral will take place at 11 
o’clock.
