The funeral of Mr. C.W. Davis, who died Monday evening at the residence of his 
parents in Charlotte street, took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, from 
Freemason Street Baptist Church, the services being conducted by the pastor, 
Rev. Dr. M.B. Wharton. The funeral was very largely attended by his many 
friends and the services a most impressive one. The remains were escorted to 
their last resting place by the Norfolk City Guard, of which he was a member, 
and the Naval Post Band. The following gentlemen were pall-bearers: From the 
Norfolk City Guard-John Hurst, John Crowling, Walter Church and N. Wolf; 
citizens- E.T. Bedout, E.E. Bennett, James Godwin and William Spann. The 
interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
