Davis, 48 years old, died at his home at Ocean View yesterday evening at 8:15 o'clock after a brief illness of pneumonia. Mr. Davis conducted a manufacturing and retail cigar business on this side of the river several years ago and was well known. For several years he has been engaged in business on the Norfolk side of the river with the Old Dominion Tobacco Company. He was the son of the late W.T. and Mrs. Sarah Cowling Davis and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bessie B. Davis and four children, Hazel, Lucrecia, Russell and Annie Davis; a brother, L.W. Davis and a sister, Miss Katherine Davis, the latter two of the Oaklette section. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. ************************************************************ The funeral of Jesse F. Davis will be conducted at the grave on the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery this morning at 11 o'clock, by Rev. S.T. Senter, pastor of the Epworth Methodist Church.
