Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 18, 1913

Mrs. Sarah E. Davis, widow of William T. Davis, died at 7 o'clock yesterday 
morning at "Indian River Hall" the home of her son, Leroy W. Davis.  She was 
79 years old.  While she had not been in good health, her death was 
unexpected.  She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and had many 
friends in Norfolk and vicinity.  She is survived by two sons, Leroy W. and 
Jesse F. Davis; a daughter, Miss Catherine E. Davis; a brother, Walter H. 
Barnes of Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister, Miss Laura F. Barnes of Norfolk County 
and a number of grandchildren.
The funeral will take place at the above residence at 3 o'clock this 
afternoon.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. T.A. Smoot of Epworth 
Church.  Burial will be in the family section of Magnolia Cemetery, Berkley.  
For the convenience of friends who may intend going to the funeral a special 
car will leave City Hall Avenue at 3 (2:15) o'clock this afternoon for 
Indian River.

DAVIS - At the residence of her son, L.W. Davis, Indian River Hall, Norfolk 
County, Thursday, December 18, 1913, at 7 o'clock a.m., SARAH E., widow of 
William T. Davis, in the 80th year of her age.
Funeral services at the above residence FRIDAY AFTERNOON at 3 o'clock.  
Special Indian River car will leave City Hall Avenue at 2:15 o'clock p.m.  
Friends of the family are invited to attend.  Interment Magnolia Cemetery.
