She was born in Lynchburg, VA on August 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lula Proctor. Clemmie was the widow of the late Walter Davis. She was an active church member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, New York and later Grace Episcopal Church, Norfolk, Virginia. She was also a very dedicated member of the United Order of Tents, a tradition that began with her mother, Lula Proctor. She will be missed by family and great friends for her wisdom, dignity and grace, along with her quick wit and infectious sense of humor. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Paulette Ellis; granddaughter, Janaia Green (Michael); aunt, Emma Jeffries; cousins, Verline Jeffries and Gary Jeffries; "adopted" son, Bruce Jefferson; and sister friend Cynthia Perry. The family will receive friends at Riddick Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 7, 2017 from 4-6 pm. The funeral is Thursday, September 8, 2017 at 12 pm at Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Bernard Eure Food Pantry of Grace Episcopal Church.
