Davis was called to his eternal resting place on Dec. 22, 2006. He was born in Norfolk to the late Jordan and Elizabeth Davis. He was known to many as "Soup Bone" and to others as "Big Dave." He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Booker T. Washington High School. Milton served in the U.S. Army for two years, was employed as a work leader by the U.S. Navy (FISC) for 28 years and received many outstanding performance awards. He was a faithful member of The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, where he served as an altar server and on the beautification and homeless ministries. Milton also served as a past Grand Knight in the Knights of Peter Claver Barrett-Newell CN/CT No. 279. Additionally, he was the past president of IAM Local Lodge 97. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Betty Davis; three sons, Kevin and Kenneth Davis (Rene) and Kelly Britt; two daughters, Kimberly Davis and Ernestine Hampton (Derrick) and six grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters, Clarice Johnson, Carolyn Griffin, Alice Drew and Sharon Shabazz, and two brothers, Steve Durham and Farad Shahid. He has two uncles, James and Robert Davis. Milton also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel St. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at 2600 Woodland Ave., Norfolk, one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church.
