Davis passed away Dec. 21, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local humane society or animal shelter. Services are to be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Trueblood officiating. There will be a graveside service following to Elmwood Cemetery, 238 East Princess Anne Road, Norfolk, VA 23510, beginning at 3:15 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to www.altmeyer.com. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks. Virginian-Pilot, (Norfolk, VA) December 26, 2010 VIRGINIA BEACH - Jay M. Davis passed away Dec. 21, 2010. He was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Norfolk to the late Edward Wallace Davis and Edith Virginia Minter Davis. Jay graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk in 1945 and attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary. Jay served in the Army from 1946-1948 as a gun crewman and parachutist with the 82nd Airborne, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He was also a member of the Marine Corps Reserves and was called into active duty from 1950-1952. After the service, he worked in the banking industry in New York City and California and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Jay loved the outdoor life and was an avid hunter with his beloved hunting dogs and his friend, Tommy Miller. Jay was preceded in death by his brother, Edward W. Davis. He is survived by his sister, Marie Carlisle; Ann Ohmsen and her husband Paul; sister, Marian Woodson and her husband Albert; and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
