Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, September 26, 2001 
Evelyn M. ``Grandma'' Davis of the 600 block of Massachusetts Ave., died Sept.
21, 2001, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Norfolk, she was a retired cook of the Naval Base after 43 years of
service and a member of New Hope Church of Deliverance.

The widow of Wallace B. Davis, she is survived by a daughter, Rosezene Carey; a
goddaughter, Martha Forbes, both of Norfolk; a son, Jerome K. Davis of
Valdalsus, Ga.; a sister, Dorothy L. Davis of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, William
Thomas Davis of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a
host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church Lamberts Point
by the Rev. Clement Murphy and the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery . The remains will be ready for viewing today from 3:30 to 8 p.m. The
family will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. for the procession. The remains
will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk
Chapel, is handling arrangements.
