Davis, attorney, who died at age 72 at a local hospital Sept.28. Mr. Davis had practiced law at Norfolk for 48 years prior to his retirement in 1962. A native of Petersburg and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Davis, Att’y Davis was a veteran of World War 1, and held memberships in the Norfolk-Portsmouth and Old Dominion Bar Associations. He was a graduate of the law school at Howard university, Washington, DC, and practiced law for a short while in Alexandria, VA, before establishing his Norfolk offices in 1915. During World War 1 he entered the army and attended Infantry Central Officers Training School, later returning to his Norfolk law practice. Att’y Davis is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lygretta B. Davis of Norfolk and a daughter, Mrs. Annie Davis Ballentine of Brooklyn, NY. Interment was in Calvary cemetery, Norfolk, with Hale and Company in charge of funeral arrangements.
