He was a native of Norfolk and the son of Attorney Samuel and Estelle Dodson Davis. He was the widower of Ellen Davis who predeceased him in August of 1997. Mr. Davis attended Booker T. Washington High School and Howard University. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and after retirement worked for WTAR television and radio stations. Mr. Davis was a proud member of the First Baptist Church, Bute Street. He served as a youth Sunday School teacher, assistant superintendent of the Sunday School, an usher, a member of the Board of Deacons, and served as secretary for the board for many years. Saddened by his passing are his sisters, Estelle Davis, Selena Robinson, Julia Stovel and Leona Hobbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Davis. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Bute Street, by Dr. Robert G. Murray with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the chapel in Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday and the family will assemble at the church and receive friends there at the that time.
