All that was mortal of Mr. Robert J. J. Davis, who departed this life at the 
Retreat for the Sick, in Richmond, Monday, arrived in Norfolk yesterday morning 
over the Norfolk and Western railway, accompanied by relatives. The funeral was 
conducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the pastor, Rev. Father John Doherty. 
The remains were laid to rest in the family enclosure in St. Mary's Cemetery. 
Following were the pall-hearers: Messrs. Joseph Hennelly, James T. Hannan, Curry 
Daughtrey, J. P. Farley, Frank O’Connor, LeRoy L. Peed and E. L. Mahoney. The 
deceased was the son of the late Capt. Patrick H. and Mary Ann Davis, of this 
city.
