The Virginian Pilot October 19, 1940 
Herbert Warren Davis, son of the late M.L.T. and Mrs. Nannie Norfleet Davis, of 
this city, died Thursday afternoon at Asheville, N.C. Surviving him are two 
brothers, Harry S. and J. Marvin Davis, of Asheville; two sisters, Mrs. W.T. 
Hughes and Miss Alice Davis, of Danville, and several nieces and nephews. The 
body will be brought to Norfolk for funeral services at the home of his sister-
in-law, Mrs. M.L.T. Davis, Jr., 1104 Westover avenue, this afternoon at 3 
o'clock with the Rev. E. Ruffin Jones, D.D., pastor of St. Andrew's Episcopal 
Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
