Mrs. Davis was a native of Norfolk and was the daughter of the late Rev. William Allen and Gertrude Collins Clements. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Kit" Davis, her son, Stephen Davis, her sister, Edith Halstead and her brother, Hyram Clements. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1936. She also attended the Virginia Union Extension College in Norfolk. She perfected the art of culinary cooking and worked in Norwalk, Conn., for 30 years. She retired and returned to Norfolk in 1980. Mrs. Davis joined Mount Olive Baptist Church under the pastorship of Dr. Harvey C. Johnson Sr. as a young child and was active in all church activities especially the church choir. She loved to sing and received training from the Patterson Voice and Piano School. Once she returned to Norfolk, she renewed her membership at Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a member of the Senior Choir, the Golden Years Auxiliary, and the Addie Dinkins Missionary Society. Mrs. Davis also maintained contact with her Booker T. Washington Alumni Association. Survivors include two grandsons, Ian and Michael Davis and a daughter-in-law, Leila Davis, all of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, William J. Clements and wife Vivian B. Clements of Portsmouth; sister-in-law, Mary A. Clements of Norwalk, Conn.; nieces, Beatrice Woods of Virginia Beach, Margaret McIntyre, Debra Clements, both of Norfolk, and Anne Clements, of Norwalk, Conn.; and nephew, George W. Halstead III and his wife Debbie Crim Halstead of Crete, Ill.; numerous great- nieces, -nephews, and cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St., Norfolk, by the Rev. John R. Davis. The family will meet at the funeral home at 11 a.m. and will receive friends prior to the noon service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
