Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, November 3, 1992 
Archie R. Davis Sr., of the 800 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd., a retired mail
clerk, died Oct. 31, 1992, in a hospital.

Mr. Davis was born in Norfolk and had retired after 30 years from what is now
NationsBank. He was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church and its male chorus.
He was the widower of Evelyn M. Davis.

Survivors include two daughters, Loretta M. Davis and Colleen K. Davis, both of
Norfolk; three sons, Lawrence G. Davis of Chesapeake, Archie R. Davis Jr. of
California and Chauncey T. Davis of Fort Bragg, N.C.; a sister, Jean Ford of
Norfolk; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Queen Street Baptist Church
by the Rev. Peter M. Wherry. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . A wake will be
held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hale Funeral Home. The body will be placed in
the church at noon Thursday. The family will assemble at the residence.
