Virginian Pilot December 21, 1960   

Edward Armistead Dawley Sr., 70, father of attorney E.A. Dawley Jr. of 1607 
Hockaday Drive, died Tuesday at 7:40 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a short 
illness.
He was a son of Edward Thomas and Mrs. Bernishia Dawley and was born in Norfolk. 
He was a retired postal clerk with 40 years service.
He was a member of the Masons, the Sons of Norfolk, Norfolk Mission College 
Alumni Association, Howard University Alumni Club and United Presbyterian 
Church.
Besides attorney Dawley, surviving is another son, Charles T. Dawley of 
Petersburg; also three daughters, Mrs. Bernishia Redding, Mrs. Janie Joyner and 
Mrs. Ruth Miller of Norfolk; and one brother, Hiram Arnett Dawley of Phoenix, 
Ariz.
The body was taken to Pretlow's Funeral Home.
