Virginian Pilot March 23, 1909

C. A. Dawley, a well-known resident of Berkley ward, died at the tuberculosis 
camp of the Eastern State Hospital Sunday night after an illness of two years' 
duration.
He was 40 years old and is survived by a widow and three sons.  Mr. Dawley had 
been a sufferer for many years and was treated at the above hospital.  He 
improved and returned home but to become worse and two months ago was compelled 
to return again to that institution for treatment.
The remains were brought here yesterday evening and the funeral will be 
conducted from the Catholic Chapel in Hardy Avenue at 3 o'clock and the 
interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
A meeting of the Niemeyer-Shaw Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, is called for 
this evening at 8 o'clock, in Washington Street Hall, to make arrangements to 
attend the funeral of the late C.A. Dawley.
