He was by vocation a carpenter and was at work all day Tuesday and was taken ill while attending prayer meeting Tuesday night. He was carried to his home where he expired in a few hours. His sudden passing will be heard with sorrow by his many friends in Norfolk, by whom he was highly esteemed. The funeral will be held at the residence, 96 Hanson Avenue, at 2 o'clock Friday. *************************************************************************** The funeral of Allen Dawson was held at the residence of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Katie Mathews, Hanson Avenue, at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The service was conducted by Rev. J. Freeman Anderson of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. The following were the pallbearers: A.H. Sterling, S.H Buck, S. C. Dalby, C.D. Straton, W.H. Gordon, L.H. Holland.
