A native of Lynchburg, he lived in this area 70 years. He was a son of Charles R. and Mrs. Zuleika Scott Hall and the husband of the late Mrs. Annie E. Day. He was retired from Building Supplies Corp., where he was glass foreman 59 years. He was the oldest member of the United Church of Christ. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Cecil E. Stallings and Mrs. Carl Neblett of Chesapeake, and Mrs. H.B. Cronise of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, Fletcher S. Day Jr. and Grover A. Day of Norfolk, and E. Ray Day of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Edward G. Day of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert A. Bew and the Rev. C. Reginald Walton of Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
