Deans Jr., of the 1500 block of Cary Ave., passed away March 3, 1997. She was born in Bishopville, S.C., to the late Samuel and Maggie Williams and raised in Henderson, N.C. Mrs. Deans attended Shaw University. Her love of children is what led her to be employed by St. Mary's Academy Daycare. She also worked at Stuart's Daycare and the New Calvary Daycare. She was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Williams and her son, David Brown Jr. She also was predeceased by her first husband, David Brown Sr. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Brown Willins; her granddaughter, Rhonda Payton; her great-granddaughters, Shonda, Stacie and Erica Payton and her great-grandson, Cory Payton, all of Chesapeake; sister-in-law, Thelma Williams; nieces, Alma Jean Williams and Theresa Lewis, all of Henderson; aunt, Della Harper; niece, Mary Ann Hargrove; nephew, Samuel Alexander Williams of New Jersey; and several great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a devoted caregiver, Theresa Robertson and dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith; and a host of friends. Services will be conducted at Hale Funeral Home Chapel, Norfolk, at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Melvin Boone. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends at her home, 1521 Cary Ave., Norfolk, on Friday. Family and friends will assemble at noon Saturday for a funeral procession.
