Norfolk Landmark November 24, 1894
The funeral of Mrs. Mary E. Dear, wife of Captain E. F. Dear, who died at her 
home, No. 17 North street, Wednesday, took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock 
from Centenary M. E. Church, and was conducted by the Rev. E. H. Rawlings, the 
pastor, in the presence of a large congregation of friends of the deceased. The 
floral tributes were very handsome. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
