Mrs. Degge was a native and well-known resident of Norfolk and had resided in Roanoke only for the past seven months. She was a member of Christ and St. Luke’s church and Hope Maury Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. William F. Powell, of Newport New. And Mrs. Walker Caldwell of Roanoke; three sons, Richard J. Degge, of Perth Amboy, N.J.; George W. Degge, of New York, and J. Huntington Degge, of Paris, France; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. R.L. Eubank, of Richmond, and Mrs. Mary Benston, of Norfolk, and a brother, John T. James, of Norfolk. Mrs. Degge was the widow of John Lawson Degge, who for many years was connected with the Virginian-Pilot. Services will be held at H.D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason Street, this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock with the Rev. W.Taylor Willis, rector of Christ and St. Luke’s Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
