He was 74 and a deacon of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Norfolk. Born in Birmingham, Ala., Mr. deLamorton was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in World War II and retired as a lieutenant in 1970. Following his naval career, Mr. deLamorton became a real estate broker and appraiser in the Hampton Roads area and in North Carolina. Mr. deLamorton was the past master (1990) of the Victory Daylight Lodge No. 1778, AF&AM Virginia, past nobel grand (1993) Lafayette No. 9, I.O.O.F. in Norfolk, life member DAV Chapter 4 Inc., Norfolk, life member DESA, Royal Arch Chapter 62 Norfolk, Research Royal Arch Chapter 1753 in Chesapeake, Grice Commandery No. 16 Knights Templar Norfolk, A.&.A.S.R. Norfolk Valley, Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 60 Norfolk, Emerald Isle Council No. 30 Knight Masons, York Rite College No. 95 Hampton Roads Companion Knight, Norfolk Encampment No. 13 I.O.O.F. patriarch, member Amaranth, Mace Court No. 9. Mr. deLamorton is survived by his wife, Jean D. deLamorton; a brother, Jean O.R. deLamorton; two sons, Robert F. deLamorton of Florida and O. Fulton deLamorton of Miller Tavern, Va.; two grandchildren, Cynthia M. Willard and her husband, Lance, of Powhatan, and Daniel A. deLamorton and his wife, Jennifer, of Highland Springs; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Erin deLamorton and Jordan Noelle deLamorton of Highland Springs. He is also survived by six stepchildren, Robert G. Young Jr., Donna Nessell and her husband, Dean, Larry Young and his wife, Paula, Janet Castellano, Brent Young, Loretta Cain and her husband, Gregory, all of the Tidewater area; and 15 step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Benjamin C. deLamorton and Howard Richard deLamorton. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by Pastor Fred Braswell. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 101 W. Plume St., Norfolk, Va. 23510.
