Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, November 25, 1998 
Elsie S. Delk, 90, of the 600 block of Goff St., died Nov. 21, 1998, in Norfolk.

She was born in Surry County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Louis and
Eliza Spratley. She was a member of Holy Temple Church in Chesapeake. She was
preceded in death by her late husband, Samuel J. Delk Sr. and two sons, Junius
Delk and Samuel Delk Jr.

Survivors include a son, James L. Delk of New York; a daughter, Julia Delk Swift
of Norfolk; twin sisters, Polly Pretlow of Newport News and Pauline Epps of
Norfolk; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12
great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Holy Temple Church, 2644
Gilmerton Road, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Steven Pierce. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery . Family and friends will assemble at 661 Goff St., Norfolk, at 11 a.m.
for the procession to the church. Hale Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
