Born in Mitchellville, Md., in 1920, Dr. Dennison retired as executive vice president of Georgia Pacific Corporation after a long career in Portland, Oregon, and Atlanta. Predeceasing Dr. Dennison were his parents, Ralph and Cora Dennison; three brothers and two sisters. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Willis Dennison, and mother of his now deceased daughters, Judith Dennison Tucci and Joy Dennison Bischoff. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Johnson Dennison of Norfolk; daughter, Joan Dennison Daffron, and husband, Jim, all of Norfolk; stepdaughter, Whitney Maddox Sansone, and husband, Mike, of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Mark Tucci, and wife, Frances, Chris Tucci, and wife, Diane, Suzy Allen, and husband, Jonathan, Jim Daffron, Jr., and wife, 'Tricia, 'Tricia Chappell, and her husband, Chip, Tim Daffron, and his wife, Denise, Allen Young, and his wife, Kim, and Scott Young, and his wife, Bev. His legacy includes 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and many dear friends including his dedicated physician, Dr. Bob Mann. Dr. Dennison was a staunch believer in education and served on the boards of the University of Portland, California Western University, Stone Hill College in Massachusetts and the Aquinas Center at Emory University. He was active internationally as chairman of the U.S. Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports, a member of the International Advisory Committee and member of the Atlanta Committee on Foreign Relations. His civic activities included serving on the boards of the Goodwill Industries and the Oregon Symphony Society of Portland, the Atlanta Symphony, Central Atlanta Progress, and Trees Atlanta of which he holds the title of Director Emeritus and Founder. A funeral Mass of Christian burial was held Dec. 22, at Holy Trinity Church in Norfolk. Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Norfolk. Father David McGuire, pastor, was the presider. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 155 Government Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23503.
