Dent and daughter of Burgess and Mrs. Lucy Joyner Dent, died at the residence of her son-in-law, A.J. Wood, Jr., 2414 Colonial Avenue, last night at 7:24 o'clock. Mrs. Dent was a native of Southampton County and had been a resident of Norfolk 40 years. Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. J.L. Snyder, of Richmond; Mrs. William Stoot, of Shamokin, Pa., and Mrs. Wood, of Norfolk, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which Mrs. Dent was a member, Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. ************************************************************************* Funeral services for Mrs. Dent, widow of Frederick L. Dent, and daughter of the late Burgess, and Mrs. Lucy Joyner, whose death occurred Wednesday evening, were held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. E.P. Kilgalen, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Paul V. Heller and the Rev. T. P. Scannell were present in the sanctuary. At the conclusion of the mass, Father Heller spoke of Mrs. Dent’s happiness in suffering as a result of her perfect resignation to the will of God. During the service, Mrs. Louis Sansone sang “O Lord I’m Not Worthy,” and "Good Night, Sweet Jesus,” with J. Harvey Stevens, as organist. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of pink roses, rhubrum lilies and ferns. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Services at the grave were conducted by the Rev. T. P. Scannell. The pallbearers were Ford Nunnally, Robert Atkinson, Arthur Newton, Rodney Hudgins, E. W. Seay and William Hayden.
