The Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 21, 1937


Mrs. Lula Harris Derrick, aged 64 years, widow of William Derrick, and daughter 
of the late Valentine and Mrs. Caroline Tripp Harris, a native of Elizabeth 
City, N.C., and for the past 49 years a resident of Norfolk, died yesterday 
morning at the residence, 725 Woodis Avenue. She is survived by one sister, 
Mrs. Ann Harris; two nieces, Miss Ella Wilson, and Mrs. L.E. Chapman; three 
nephews, Spence Rodgers, Albert Harris and Sebastian Wilson.
Services will be held at the H.D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East 
Freemason Street, tomorrow at 3:30 o’clock with the Rev. G.E. Hopkins, pastor 
of LeKies M.E. Church, of which Mrs. Derrick was a member, officiating. 
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
