Deshields Sr., 86, of Route 1, a retired, 45-year employe of Virginia Electric & Power Co., died Wednesday in Washington County Hospital. He was a native of Washington County and the husband of the late Mrs. Blanche S. Deshields. He was an Army veteran of World War I, member of the 29th Division, the Last Man's Club, and Chesapeake Old Timers Club. He also was a member of First Christian Church of Plymouth and its Wesleymen Bible Class. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie D. Vanlandingham and Mrs. Marion B. Burau of Roper; two sons, Danford M. Deshields Jr. of Roanoke and Richard S. Deshields of Colorado; a sister, Mrs. Eva Sawyer of Portsmouth; three brothers, Earl Deshields and Broughton Deshields of Virginia Beach, and Robert Deshields of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Woolard. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8.
