She was a retired mail and delivery clerk of Hofheimers Inc. where she worked for more than 40 years. She was a native of Princess Anne County, and the daughter of the late Josiah and Priscilla Haynes Pugh. She was the widow of Sterling Desmond and a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. She was a founding member of New Calvary and was a former Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Senior Missionary Society and the D.Y. Campbell Club. She was a member of the Lindenwood Cottage Heights-Barraud Park Civic League and the Barraud Park Neighborhood Club. She is survived by nieces, Helen W. Copeland of Virginia Beach and Priscilla W. Coleman of New York; and a nephew, Donald K. Mouring Sr. of Norfolk; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. G.G. Campbell in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. The family will assemble at the residence.
