Detterman, Carpenter, 60, Dies John Frederick Detterman, 60, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 6:50 a.m. He was foreman of carpenters for R.R. Richardson Company, general contractors, and had been connected with the company 35 years. His condition became critical only last week, although he had been in failing health for several months. A native of Cumberland, Md. and son of the late Nicholas Joseph and Mr. Mary Hoffman Detterman, he had lived in Norfolk 40 years, making his home at 105 Shelton Avenue, Fox Hall. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local No. 331 and of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Libey Virginia Detterman, he is survived by one son, Robert Reid Detterman; a grandson, Robert Reid Detterman, Jr., three brothers, H.A. Detterman, F.L. Detterman and G.W. Detterman; four sisters, Mrs. W.H. Hayden, Mrs. T.W. Treakle, Mrs. C.O. Rhodes and Mrs. G.B. Thompson, all of Norfolk. The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments to St. Mary's Catholic Church for services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the funeral apartments tonight at 8 o'clock. *************************************************************************** DETTERMAN, JOHN FREDERICK - At a local hospital, Wednesday, March 8, 1950, at 6:50 o'clock a.m., John Frederick, husband of Mrs. Libey Virginia Detterman and son of the late Nicholas Joseph and Mrs. Mary Hoffman Detterman, in the 61st year of his age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to St. Mary's Catholic Church for funeral services Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery.
