Virginian-Pilot  August 7, 1926
Francis Joseph Detterman, aged 37, son of Nicholas, Jr., and Mary Anna Detterman, 
died at 8:10 o’clock yesterday morning at a local hospital. He was a native of 
Cumberland, Md., and had been a resident of Norfolk for 12 years, residing at 1022 
South street, East Brambleton.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tessie Chandler Detterman; 
one son, Thomas Detterman; five sisters, Mrs. W. H. Hayden, Mrs. T. W. Treakle, 
Mrs. F. S. Kessler, and Misses Mary and Emma Detterman; four brothers, John F., 
Henry A., George W., and Fred L. Detterman. The body will be taken from the 
residence of his parents, 816 Windsor avenue, to St. Mary's Catholic Church for 
funeral services this morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
