Nicholas Joseph Detterman, aged 80 years, son of the late Nicholas J. and Mrs. 
Mary Lledlinger Detterman, died at 2:15 o’clock yesterday morning at a local 
hospital. Mr. Detterman, a native of Cumberland, Md.,. and a resident of this 
section for 33 years, resided at 1501 Maryland Avenue, Coleman Place. He is 
survived by his wife, Mrs. Katie, Detterman; four daughters, Mrs. W. H. Hayden, 
Mrs. T. W. Treakle, Mrs. Mary Rhodes and Mrs. Emma Thompson; four sons, J. F., H. 
A., G. W. and F. L. Detterman, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. George Grabestein 
and Mrs. John Stegmier; 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Mary’s 
Catholic Church for services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments 
today at 7:30 p.m.
