Born in Norfolk with her twin sister, Ann Gill, on September 29, 1935, she was raised and lived most of her life in the Virginia Beach area. She was predeceased by her mother, Veronica McGuire Wagner, her father, Jefferson Ashburn Wagner, and her stepmother, Nina Wagner Odom. She was a Roman Catholic and an active member of the Ft. Story congregation. Her faith was very important and she was an active member of her bible study group. With her many friends through the years, Lee enjoyed traveling as well tennis, bridge, mahjongg, gardening and cooking. Lelia was an active member of the Virginia Beach Garden Club and Christian Outreach, started her Bible study group, organized gift giving drives for the bed-ridden seniors at Bay Point Rehabilitation, assisted at the P.I.N Ministry for the homeless and was a fierce advocate against the abuse of the elderly. Lelia greatly loved her family, including her son, Townsend, daughter, Ramsay, daughter-in-law, Sheri, and especially her grandchildren, Hunter and Sarah. Lelia is also survived by her brother-in-law, Howard Gill, of Virginia Beach, her nephews: Mo Gill, and his wife, Amelia, and their children of San Antonio, Tx., John Gill, and his wife, Susan, and their children of Virginia Beach and Patrick Gill, and his wife, Clay, and their children of Virginia Beach, her brother William Baer, of Canton, Ct., and Dickie Davis, of Free Union, Va. A memorial service will be conducted at Galilee Church, 3928 Pacific Avenue, Virginia Beach at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 13. Father Greg Delletazzie will officiate. A reception for friends and family will follow at the Princess Anne Country Club. There will be a private interment ceremony on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter at 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, M.D. 20855. (webdc.alsa.org) H.D.
