The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Sunday January 16, 1938
John deWitt, aged 29, son of the late Cornelius and Mrs. Cecile Mottu deWitt, 
died at a local hospital yesterday at 12 o'clock noon.  Mr. deWitt was a 
native and lifelong resident of Norfolk.  Surviving him are six sisters, Mrs. 
Frank B. Hastie, of Farmingdale, N.J., and the Misses Elizabeth, Julia, 
Katrine, Harriet and Caroline deWitt, all of Virginia Beach, and three 
brothers, Cornelius deWitt, of Macon, Ga.; Paul deWitt, of San Francisco, and 
Peter deWitt, of Virginia Beach.  The body was taken to H.D. Oliver's Funeral 
Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason street, pending funeral arrangements.
