The body of Diaz had been in the water since about 1 a.m. Thursday when he accidentally fell overboard, according to information obtained by the beach police who said the seaman was pulled overboard as he held onto a cable as the ship's anchor was being lowered. The body was reported found by soldiers from Fort Stroy who were on patrol duty on the beach at the time. Dr. H. F. Dormire, coroner for Princess Anne County, who viewed the body, gave a verdict of accidental drowning, and permitted removal of the body to a local undertaking establishment. Diaz' home was listed as Havana, Cuba. FUNERALS BERNARDO PAINCERA DIAZ - Funeral services for Bernardo Paincera Diaz, 36-year-old member of the crew of the Panamanian schooner, David Gettson, whose body washed ashore at Virginia Beach Friday afternoon, were held at the grave in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk, yesterday morning at 9 o'clock, with the Rev. F. V. Bambrick, of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating.
